Finding the Right Hotel in Edinburgh: What I Learned

It's easy to get Edinburgh wrong, especially when you're tired from a long flight and just want a place to crash. I learned that the hard way after landing at Edinburgh Airport, dragging my suitcase through the rain-slicked streets of the city center, only to realize my booking had been confirmed for a hotel two miles away from where I needed to be. The rain turned my map into a watercolor, and I ended up walking past the Royal Mile, past the Castle, and past the famous Scott Monument, all while trying to figure out how to get to my hotel. I was lost, soaked, and ready to give up. After a few wrong turns, I finally found my way to the city center, but my options were limited.
